BRIDGE EVENTS!

What is a bridge event?  Bridge events are events that are held outside the church walls, preferably off church grounds entirely, specifically designed to meet and connect with people in the community.

Fishing Derby: The fishing derby was great fun for all and even a few fish were caught!  There were 33 families that were not from our church including 61 children. A few of those families indicated that they did not have a church home and would like more information. A letter has been sent to them. We also had 17 of our own kids fishing along with their families plus a good number of volunteers! Thank you to everyone who helped make the fishing derby a successful event to love on our community and to the Bridge committee for their time and energy to make this event run smoothly.

Thanks to Fareway for donating the paper sacks. The week was a success because of the committee of Jan Dodd, Denise Morris, Suzy DeJong, Cathy Gilliland, Sharon Shaulis and Karen Adams.

Sunday School:  Teachers and Second Adults needed!  Is this something you would be willing to give a try? This is a very rewarding way to serve the church. No experience needed.  Just caring, compassionate adults willing to give of their time to help our children and youth grow in their faith. For Fall Sunday School teachers are needed in the 2nd-3rd grade class, the 4th-5th grade class & the high school class.

Caring Ministry Opportunities

Prayer Chain   Just a reminder, we all can all use prayers in for our lives or the lives of our loved ones.  Prayer is a powerful tool.  The church does have a prayer chain that is activated when someone calls the office with a prayer request.  We want you to know that these prayers are confidential and those of us on the chain will be praying for you, but not talking about you.  This also means that your prayer request will not be automatically announced in church during the prayer time unless you request it be. It you would like to be a part of this vital ministry, please contact Suzy in the church office, and she will add you to the prayer chain email list.  We recommend when you receive a prayer request you act upon it right away, as sometimes if we wait until “prayer” time (before meals, before going to bed, first thing in the morning) we may forget.

Do “You” have a giving heart, a desire to help, a free morning, afternoon, day or weekend?

CUMC’s newly established Caring Committee is considering having a “Helping Hand Week” and wonder is we have members of the congregation that would be willing to lend a hand to those in our church family and community that need assistance. We are thinking of small, easy to complete tasks such as spring or fall lawn clean-up, painting, window washing, moving heavy items, minor handyman repairs etc. Before we go forward with this we want to make sure we have members in our congregation that would be willing to commit? If this is something you or your family would be interested in doing, please contact Lisa at vohoskal@gmail.com. Proverbs 11:25 states “Generous persons will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”
